My wife is out of town this week, . And you know what that means…
When the cat’s away, the mice will watch bad-taste movies!
I started off with Dawn of the Dead, yes the 1978 version.
And it got me thinking about a new client project I’m working on that might help you too.
I swear there’s a connection, bear with me here.
See, I have a client with a decent sized email list of about 5000.
But she sends emails pretty sporadically.
And when she does send, the open rates are only around 12-15%.
Which is bad... very bad.
Here’s my exact process to get those open rates back up to 30%+ and start generating revenue from her email list.
The first thing I'll do is check deliverability.
Are the emails landing
in spam or the promotions tab? We need to fix that before we even think about planning a campaign.
It's vital to ensure the emails reach the right place in the inbox.
Next, I'll identify dormant subscribers.
It's essential to define what 'inactive' means for this specific business.
Is it no opens, clicks, or purchases over a certain period?
For this client, anyone inactive for the past 6 months will be tagged.
Then, I'll map out email flows for these dormant subscribers.
This involves mapping out a sequence of emails, determining
when subscribers should enter and exit this journey, all aimed at reigniting their interest with content that speaks directly to them.
After that, crafting engaging re-engagement emails is key.
This step isn't just about sending another newsletter; it's about creating something that stands out in their inbox.
We'll use captivating subject lines and compelling
content, and running a campaign to a new low-ticket offer she’s just finished putting together.
Another crucial step is A/B testing.
We won't just settle for the first draft.
Instead, we'll test different subject lines and email content variations to find what resonates best with the audience.
As a bonus step, we'll utilise Meta custom audiences.
This strategy will help us re-target these subscribers on social media
platforms with her new low-ticket offer.
It's a powerful way to re-engage and also connect with subscribers not actively following her IG and FB pages.
So, here's what it comes down to.
By understanding the audience, crafting targeted campaigns, and constantly iterating based on feedback, we're set to dramatically improve open rates.
Well, I hope that’s been helpful .
